Forbes Travel Guide reported back in 2013 how luxury hotel were shifting their attending to their ecological sustainability and push it as an important factor in their sales proposition.

In recent years, being green means being in style—and that extends into the hotel industry. Around the world, we’re seeing luxury hotels integrate eco-friendly practices into service and facility; and it’s not just passing on having the sheets washed daily.

The trend grew slowly over these couple of years with the likes of  Booking.com, Orbitz.com and HotelsCombined.com adding “Eco-Chic” as a new hotel category.

Although there is still no standard definition of this new hotel category, the Boutique Travel Blog surely knows how an Eco-Chic hotel looks like. Apart from the energy-efficient, eco-friendliness of the building, hotels that fall under this category offer comfort, privacy (usually thanks to being small and boutique), and quality accommodation.
