The Competition & Markets Authority (CMA) in the UK has announced that they will be investigating a number of undisclosed online companies suspected of “potentially misleading practices”.
Amongst the alleged misconduct, the CMA indicated that one or more of these businesses may be responsible for:-
- Publishing fake reviews
- Withholding negative reviews from being published

The CMA’s senior director for consumer affairs, Nisha Arora, says it wants to ensure consumer trust in “these important information tools is maintained”.
