International finance publications (the likes of INC. Magazine and The Wall Street Journal) are excited about a recent round of funding for Airbnb. A reported €750 million were raised by Google Capital and Technology Crossover Ventures.

This new injection brings Airbnb to a valuation of $30 billion, reducing the gap with another peer-to-peer player in the industry, UBER which is currently valued at $68 billion.

However, beyond the usual numbers and the speculations of such, what does this investment mean? How will Google influence Airbnb (and consequently the whole sector)?
